Impact on Beneficiaries’ Lives

To date, the Refugee Zakat Fund enabled UNHCR to assist more than 5.5 million refugees and IDPs globally.

Endorsed by 15 fatwas

Majority of the world’s refugees and IDPs fall under at least 4 of the 8 Zakat recipient categories: the poor, the needy, the debtors, and the wayfarers, in a context where more than 50% of refugees and IDPs globally come from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The fatwas also dictate UNHCR’s 100% Zakat distribution policy.
