Eid Charity
The Sheikh Eid Bin Muhammad Al Thani Charitable Foundation is a Qatari humanitarian independent nonprofit organization that is concerned with the welfare of people in Qatar and abroad; and was established in 1995.
During its three decade humanitarian journey, it has implemented major humanitarian and developmental projects that have benefited millions around the world, and in these projects the foundations’ mission was integrated with the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals which aim to eradicate poverty and hunger, maintain health, improve the quality of education and equality, provide clean water, and work to preserve the environment by investing in clean energy, providing job opportunities, contributing to industries, establishing and developing infrastructure, eradicating racial discrimination and creating sustainably living societies, recycling, expanding green life, and spreading a culture of peace and tolerance.
Eid Charity has been a core partner to UNHCR since 2018, with total contributions exceeding USD 6.5 million dedicated to refugees and internally displaced persons across Bangladesh, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Somalia, and Yemen, benefiting more than 300,000 beneficiaries.
In 2024, Eid Charity and UNHCR signed two Zakat agreements totaling QAR 4,550,233 (USD 1,247,913) to help over 52,000 forcibly displaced individuals in Somalia and Yemen. With this funding, UNHCR will provide shelter, Non-Food Items and multipurpose cash assistance to more than 40,000 forcibly displaced persons in Somalia and cash assistance to more than 12,000 internally displaced Yemenis within Yemen.
