Imagine what your gift can do for refugees this Eid Al Adha.

This year, in the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah and Eid Al Adha, refugees are living in an ‘emergency within an emergency’, and more families desperately need UNHCR’s humanitarian assistance. Our goal is to maintain the lifesaving support that refugee and displaced families rely on all year long. Providing urgent cash assistance allows families to pay for rent, food, water, medicine, and debt repayments. Your Zakat funds can also support the provision of emergency core relief items such as emergency shelter, sleeping mats, kitchen sets, and basic items to help people who have lost everything. Zakat funds are also available to support forcibly displaced become self-reliant through livelihood resources.

UNHCR is following a 100% Zakat distribution policy.
UNHCR’s Refugee Zakat Fund is subject to rigorous governance, ensuring transparency at every step, from donation to distribution of Zakat.

When you donate your Zakat to the Refugee Zakat Fund, you can be rest assured that 100% of Zakat donation is distributed to the most vulnerable forcibly displaced families in critical need of support and assistance.
Your Zakat can support vulnerable forcibly displaced families in Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Mauritania, Nigeria, Somalia Yemen, and Mauritania.
Exceptionally for the Refugee Zakat Fund, UNHCR has waived its standard 6.5% indirect support costs, to ensure that 100% of your Zakat goes directly to the most vulnerable families.
Any expenses associated with the distribution of Zakat are covered by other sources of funding to UNHCR.
All Zakat received by UNHCR is strictly channeled through Zakat-compliant cash and in-kind assistance programmes that complement other forms of aid provided by UNHCR.
You can read how your Zakat has made a difference in our annual reports about the distribution of Zakat funds and their impact on the lives of beneficiaries which you can find here.

Do you know...

Your Zakat can help save the lives of vulnerable refugees and forcibly displaced families?

Imagine one day you are forced to flee your home not out of choice, but out of fear for your life and the lives of your family members. You have no time to pack your belongings. You and your family are left with nothing in search of safety. This is the reality of millions of people forced to flee their homes because of conflict, violence, or persecution each day. Rohingya, Yemeni, Iraqi, Syrian, Nigerian, Somali brothers and sisters experience horrific hardship.

Your gift of Zakat can provide much needed cash assistance, emergency relief items and livelihood resources to thousands of these families forced to flee their homes because of no fault of their own.

Vulnerable families in need are often headed by women alone who can face obstacles when looking for work. Providing them with cash assistance, relief items and livelihoods support helps prevent them from resorting to desperate survival strategies – such as pulling children out of school and child labour.
